Happy New Music Friday - April 18th, 2025! This week, I have a special spotlight edition post!
24-year-old musician jvke teamed up with 3x Grammy-winning artist, Tori Kelly for a brand new collaboration in “this is what floating feels like.”
After hearing through this track the first time, I felt that it’s a good companion to jvke’s previous release, “clouds.”
Sonically, I loved that piano melody right from the get-go! Towards the outro, it changes subtly like putting a nice ribbon on an already perfect gift box!
Thematically, if you’re in a state of bliss or awe by anything or anyone in life, then this new song will have you and your lover or loved one(s) floating on a cloud (together) too!
Vocally, both have such tender voices that captivates your ears. The harmonies are simply soothing. Tori’s vocals reminded me a bit like R&B hitmaker SZA’s. Soft, and heavenly!
I love how jvke continues to craft songs that captures emotions of everyday life. His “this is what (insert emotion) feels like” series is continuing to grow each year and I hope he doesn’t stop!
